For this brief, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive scheduling document for a newly constructed warehouse in Sydney. The industrial structure required a design that incorporated two seating areas, a dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, walk-in robe (WIR), ensuite, and a creative office space, all aligned with a contemporary theme. To initiate the design process, I began by creating a moodboard that captured the minimal style and relaxed atmosphere envisioned for the property. This was followed by an inspiration board featuring various room images that resonated with the desired ambiance, focusing on neutral elements accented by pops of colour such as sage green, royal blue, and pink through the use of feature tiles.
With these boards established, I moved on to furniture selections, carefully considering the contemporary design goals set for each room. The selections incorporated a range of textures, including wood, marble, wool (for rugs), brushed steel, velvet, and concrete. These furniture choices were then translated into a Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) schedule, documenting the specifications for each item, including size, installation location, product details, codes, and supplier information. This schedule encompassed selections such as flooring, wall paint colours, tiles, ceiling finishes, joinery, fittings, exterior paint options, and lighting.
Material boards were also developed for the project, featuring samples from selected suppliers to facilitate a better visualisation of the design. These samples, gathered throughout the project's duration, allowed for careful consideration of each product's use and durability. Suppliers such as ABI Interiors, Concrete Nation, TileCloud, BoConcept, Laminex, Dulux, and Bremworth Rugs contributed to the collection of samples, enhancing the overall design process.
