For this brief, I was required to create a full scheduling document for a newly built warehouse within Sydney. This property had an industrial structure that was requiring a design that included two seating areas, a dining room, kitchen, a master bedroom, walk-in robe (WIR), and an ensuite as well as a creative office space. The brief required me to align these spaces to a contemporary theme.
To initiate the design process, I began by creating a moodboard that incorporated the minimal style and relaxed atmosphere that I wanted to create within the property. Following this, an inspiration board was created which saw the selection of different room images that appealed to the atmosphere I was aiming to create. I wanted to bring in neutral elements which were complemented by pops of colour such as sage green, royal blue, and pink through the use of feature tiles.
After making these boards, furniture selections then took place, taking into careful consideration the contemporary design goals that had been set for the rooms. Furniture selections saw a range of textures incorporated including wood, marble, wool (for the rugs), brushed steel, velvet, and concrete.
These furniture selections were then translated into a Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) schedule where I documented the specification of each item, including the size required, installation location, product details, its codes as well as the supplier's details. This schedule included selections such as flooring, wall paint colours, tiles, ceiling finishes, joinery selections, fittings, exterior paint selections, and lighting.
Material boards were created for this project which involved the gathering of samples from selected suppliers in order to better visualise my project. These samples were collected over the duration of the project and allowed me to better take into consideration the product's use and durability. Suppliers such as ABI interiors, Concrete Nation, TileCloud, BoConcept, Laminex, Dulux, and Bremworth Rugs were used as samples for this project.
