Located in the Sydney suburb of Edgecliff, the Mnemosyne project offers 2 x large-scale serviced apartments for those travelling for business or leisure.

The design process began by developing spatial planning ideas with the given floorplans, taking into consideration their unique and angular shape, and ensuring that each space was developed in accordance with serviced apartment requirements. These ideas gave the impetus to create AutoCAD floorplans to better visualise the design. Concepts were then generated with inspiration image gathering and moodboard creation to establish a vision for the design that catered to the apartments' needs. Materiality selection followed this, with careful consideration given to specific materials that would be durable, given the property would be used by many different guests. Following this, rendering of the various spaces was completed.

The brief required a moveable wall between the two apartments on an adjoining wall. This was done through the use of double-stacking sliding doors that slid into a cavity space behind the kitchen joinery on each side. This allowed for the two spaces to become one, while also having a space to hide the doors once opened. Careful consideration was given to the spatial planning to ensure that the doors opened onto a communal space, such as the kitchen, living, and dining areas, rather than a private space, such as a bedroom or bathroom.

It was important to utilise the various angles and floor-to-ceiling windows appropriately to ensure that the apartments provided the guests with a space that was functional, but also luxurious and filled with natural light. Whilst consideration was given to implementing a generous open-plan living area, the master suite in each apartment was made a priority so that guests could wind down and relax in their own personal retreat while away from home. For those guests who prefer to relax in the living and dining spaces, an open-plan setting was provided This was done by incorporating warm tones of wood and neutral fabrics, in the form of upholstery, cushions, blankets, and sheer curtains, along with touches of green from the various plants throughout the space. Long-lasting materials such as marble and Caesarstone benchtops were incorporated to add a touch of luxury, whilst also ensuring they were fit for purpose.
